It was good. One thing that didn't work was I couldn't reach the internet from the SQL Server (in the private subnet), which was supposed to work through the NAT. I checked the Route and Security Group and found nothing odd. I found that private subnet routing rule would make internet access (www.google.com) it hop to the NAT in public subnet, which would inturn reach to the internet gateway. However there was no internet access from the SQL Server. I continue to wonder what went wrong :-(

some more explanation on why doing things would be useful. The remote desktop was useful but got lost on the log into database. I am using a mac so felt like many layers of indirection.

5/5 eventhough the guide has not been updated to match current GUI. Good walkthrough covering the basics.

Pretty solid explanation of setting up multiple subnets. Wish it utilized Linux servers, instead of Windows though.

Definitely some room for improvement. You need to keep your supporting documentation up-to-date. Someone with limited exposure to the services covered in this lab would find very few of the screenshots useful, and might have considerable difficulty in completing the tasks outlined therein. For cost savings at the same or better level of performance, also consider specifying the new(er) t2 instance class for micro, small, and medium instance sizes. I was able to complete the lab while substituting these for the old t1 and m1 classes specified in your lab guide. Finally, this lab is a bit pricey for what it offers. Please provide half-credit costs on simple labs, or even free (intro level) labs.
