To successfully complete this lab, you need to Allocate an elastic IP early, since the VPC wizard will no longer create one for you.

There are a few steps that need to be updated. As this was an introductory lab, and the first lab that I've taken, my initial impression is that perhaps most of the labs I may go through will not match the current AWS environment.

The instructions in this lab do not match with the panels in AWS for creating a public/private VPC -- it says to select a key pair -- but the screen in AWS has no such selection -- only an elastic ip selection -- for which there are no values -- and no instructions.

I expect all learning material to be 100% in sync with reality. A hand-full(enough for me to deduct 2 stars) of cases where directions do not match the current console. Otherwise I would give 4 or 5 stars for this lab.

as mentioned previously, the lab docs need cleanup, i.e., the vpc did not launch with the stated steps (using NAT instance and qwiklabs key). It works if the initial configuration is set up with an elastic ip address.
