There was a PDF compression rendering issue that may have been bandwidth related, otherwise, this was a very good introduction to VPC. The focus on Routing Tables and Subnets was just right and demystifies how to get one up and running without getting caught up in issues getting in and out of your actual compute resources.

Creating subnets manually is nice but NAT does not actually work/get configured

I didn't really understand how private subnet 2 acted as a SQL slave if there were no SQL instances created in said subnet.
