Sadly yum through an error and I had to redeploy the instance (as that was the quickest fix). Might be worth including a warning that it can happen and to check the system log (so you don't run out of time). Also the RDS interface is quite different to EC2, VPC, etc. interfaces so I'd say the instructions could be improved to complete in the time allowed.
