Not really the automated S3 bucket creation seems to be created using a default location which is not the same as the default location for the key. Also if you try to change the bucket location to match the key you don't seem to get the right locations to select. Eventually got it right but had to make sure everything got created in the same location. It is misleading that the sign in dialogue suggests that IAM is global and doesn't need a location.
