debian image name is wrong, needed to update datestamp at the end. also, stackdriver logging agent (google-fluentd) would not start ~ updated service account on the VM to fix this also note that updating the startup-script after deployment, won't execute those commands on the server it would be nice for things to work as desired

for course completed sections, why are labs showing up as not completed, while they are done. Something to do with end lab?
