It felt like there were so many things bundled into this one lab, but I thought it all connected well. The last step to query the database isn't as straight-forward as the lab suggests and I had to view the table data through another form.

Some of the commands did not work. I had to configure the default GCP project for gcloud before the setup scripts would work. Also, the instructions don't mention that Spanner is not enabled. I ended up creating a test instance which did not allow me to create a US region. It also took some exploring before I could figure out how to run SQL queries because that option is buried in some sub-menues instead of listed obviously in the sidebar. Aside from that though, I was able to get it working and complete the lab. Others less familiar with GCP would likely struggle though.
