When I created the sink after generating traffic on the VMs, the table didn't appear in BigQuery (and, as a result, I couldn't complete the lab because I couldn't check off the second step). On my second attempt, I reversed the order: I created the sink first, then generated the traffic, and the table appeared.

The log sink for BigQuery doesn't work because of permissions of service account. I needed to adjust manually.
