The lab was entirely different from the video that preceded it and what Brian was showing. I think they are not the same. During the lab there were many issues - the project ID was not setup in the environment automatically and I had to set it. While deploying the app at the end, an error was thrown due to some missing dependency. I simply tried deploying again and it worked the second time without any changes!
