apache2 and php-mysql failed to install because the startup command lacked "sudo," so I had to do that manually. Then despite following everything to the letter, I was never able to connect to the SQL DB from my browser on the VM's web server. Triple checked everything, but I couldn't find anything wrong with how I followed the instructions.

I was not able to connect the vm to the db using the user credentials. I checked twice. I even created another user with a password i knew, but it kept showing connection failed. so not sure what happened there.
