app engine instance did not appear for at least 5 minutes in dashboard, despite being able to the hit OK using url from console. very confusing. Also the instructions from removing email as a notification channel are incorrect: you must FIRST delete the alert THEN trash the email, otherwise you get an error msg "that email is being used by alert xxx"
