I didn't notice a change in the persisted SQL in the final steps vs. the initial derived table as CTE in the steps prior. I don't know if it was a small change but in the screenshots in the lab there still remains a CTE. Other than that, I'm much more comfortable using derived tables and didn't know I could reference other views in the model. Good to know.
