I'd like to run some other commands on the exposed service, created at the end of the lab, like e.g. a readiness and health check again.

Healthy checks procedures are kind of confusing, maybe cause the explanation about the timing is unclear, basically the same curl to make it fail is used to make it work. Didnt catch the reason for the port forwarding. finally the certificates saving and loading didnt work for me, worked without https.
