Prior to step 2: Launch a new Hadoop Cluster in a new region I had to run ‘source .bashrc’ to get it to load my previously exported $BUCKET_NAME, and $UNIQUE_ID variables into shell.

lame, this would all be scripted and you don't say why GCS would be prefered over HDFS?

could not do this lab as there is an error. Your unique, federate login credentials are being created. please try again in 30 seconds started working on second attempt of lab , but gets stuck on bdutil line erro code line 326

I found this lab very useful, as it uses real word software (hadoop) that may be necessary in the real world.
