Would be more illustrative of what's going on under the hood if the two EC2 instances sent something different to the browser (i.e. This is EC2 Server 1, This is EC2 Server 2) maybe even including the instanceID. Also, there was a considerable delay in the two EC2 instances coming out of the 'OutOfService' status. Any way to have these already spun up when the lab starts rather than waiting for the load balancer step and then making the student wait .. hitting refresh for 5 minutes to finally escape 'OutOfService' state on these two web servers?

My EC2 instances were not listed on step18 in the lab to select them so I was not able to browse the site.
