the lab is missing verification that load balancer actually works. For example, Download SSH key; connect to each of the instances; cd /var/www/html sudo vi index.html Change "test website" to something different. Make sure that first machine differs from the second. Reload load-balanced page (step 22) and confirm that the contents of the page changes

I shutdown one of the instances to see if it would LB to the other it did, then shutdown the last instance as expected with everything shutdown web page did not return. Started up the instances, web site using the load balanced url would not work after the stop start.
