The prerequisites include beginner CloudFormation but that training does not cover any of the content you're pasting into CloudFormation Designer. I recommend that the training give an example of how the three big pasted blocks of text work together to create the template. If I opened up cloudformation designer right now, I couldn't do much with it without any depth on the parameters and mappings.
