There is an issue with index.js picking up the environment variable of GCLOUD_PROJECT. It seems that setting this environment variable in shell doesn't solve the problem, I have to install dotenv module and create a .env file to specify the project ID number for GCLOUD_PROJECT variable. If not done, the npm start command will start the process listening to 8080 but there will be an error message saying project ID is not specified
