server error: it is still not responding after some time and the scan also reported "scan encountered numerous errors from the site"

Deploying the App could have more clarifying steps listed. Application would not launch properly. Support case opened. Recommend adding another step at the end, after fixing the app, to re-attempt the XXS so the student can see the difference in result.
