Status Reason: Non-Windows instances with a virtualization type of 'hvm' are currently not supported for this instance type. Placing Spot instance request failed.

Another great lab however the instance sizes are no longer relevant. When the instance size is set to t1.micro I receive an error 'Non-Windows instances with a virtualization type of 'hvm' are currently not supported for this instance type. This works if I use t2.micro, however then the t2.micro instance size is not supported for spot pricing. So excellent lab you just need to adjust the instance sizing to valid values. I will look to redo the lab and see what values are valid - excellent learning for me though.

Total Failure. Followed every step, used the right AMI and availability zone and have the output to prove it but the only EC2 Instance that exist in the console is the Bastion host. Qwiklabs should give refunds for failed labs. Especially ones that take an hour to complete. This is becoming too common to be worth the cost. So, I ran the lab again and this time looked in the console at the auto-scale group and found that the EC2 instances failed due to launching a t1.micro with an hvm ami is not supported. The lab instructions is trying to run a non-supported EC2 instances. To use the HVM AMI you have to use a t2 instance type or greater.
