While the spot instance part was helpful I am not sure the termination rules make sense to real world. Not sure how a lab could show a more real world example maybe having job on the bastion pushing item into a sqs queue 1 every 10 seconds once started and a job on each instance processing those one each minutes are being added then an alarm triggered when the queue NumberOfEmptyReceives is higher than say 1 in a minute period for 2 periods we scale to zero. Then to trigger it you kill the process putting them on the queue, and run one that reads the items from the queue very fast.
