when i ran the aws ec2 describe-images command, the value killed is returned to the CLI.

PLEASE CHECK THIS LAB !! The command specified to obtain the latest AMI gives you an AMI (ami-4836a428) that does not support hvm so the auto-scaling group fails to launch the instances because t1.micro instances only run on a hvm OS. I reverted to the AMI provided on the examples (ami-1b3b462b) and the lab worked OK.

I really do wish there was a lab/qwest with nothing but CLI commands. More time needs to be spent on them so I get more out of the labs that use them.

bastion ami was hvm based and had to find a pv based ami to use for the lab

Plus: commands were made available Good info about navigating the UI. Downsides: didn't observe the autoscaling trigger, waited longer than 45 minutes. Unclear if values need to change. Original instances stayed active, never scaled up or down. Screenshots didn't expand in Chrome browser. Almost impossible to read. Account glitched on cloudwatch metric creation at 'autoscaling action' > 'please select a grooup' section. Had to go into EC2 auto scaling and add it manually to the scaling policies tab (had to look this up on stack overflow to learn about this) Would appreciate an e-mail with an explanation of what I missed, if possible. If I was supposed to make some independent changes to the autoscaling group sizes, that was unclear from the explanation provided. Please let me know if there's something I missed.
