terraform plan command asks for a value for backends variable which fails as well. Instruction missing.

This was interesting but did not help me in my quest to learn Terraform as it was a bunch of copy pasta. I would like to see some changes to the repo and learn how to update plans, see real-world vs. plan, and use terraform destroy, etc.
