You may need to refresh the AWS Management Console to discover when your instance is running. The status did not automatically update for me. Wasted a lot of time waiting...

The lab indicates that PuTTY.exe 'may have been downloaded' at the beginning of the lab. But it was not, so the lab could not be finished. I assume I will have to download PuTTY.exe from somewhere else and try again.
