The instructions appear to be outdated or AWS instance is not properly configured. The AMI instance creation requires a role, where the roles are not available.

I could not sign in to the EC2 instance using the provided PPK key. According to the error message, public key authentication was not available. There were now instructions on what to do if you messed up badly enough that you needed to start over. Now I'm stuck with an instance that I can't connect to.
