Could not figure out how to connect to my instance using putty. Connection refused even if the private key if configured. Maybe due to regional issues (I'm in Europe) ?

Good good. Had a problem, the ec2-user was not associated with the security group that we create in tutorial. So I just changed the default security group to allow from anywhere for SSH 22 and it worked from putty.
