Nice detailed explanation but ended too soon. After PuTTY confirmed connection w/Amazon Linux AMI, a simple ls command returned nothing and 'ls /' crashed the connection, even though I got the directory header.

The lab was great until the PUTTY part. I didn't know what that was and had to go looking. By the time I found it and downloaded the necessary code from the web the time expired. Having PuTTY should really be a pre-req or there should be detailed instructions for opening
