The 'Check my progress' button for 'Initialize Firestore Database and App Engine' did not succeed for me. I had to manually create an App Engine instance by running 'gcloud app create' and entering the number associated with 'us-east1'. This might be happening to other users. Other than that, great first tutorial and easy-to-understand program to go along with it.
