Some of the "click that button" wording is tricky. Have a visual cue might help.

This lab was really unfortunate. First of all GCP menu a little buit changed so creating new instance wasn't on place. It wasn't also sure which console to use because in previous one was used GCP console, so it should be more obvious that here author meant instance. Secondly there is some wrong with Stackdriver. When I wanted create uptime check it said there is no instance to choose. I had to create it from Resource panel. Then it pust not my instance name but some id number, but finally it showed instance name. After some time I could add uptime checker and it found my instance. After downtime (10 minutes) it didn't log incident. So I had to start again machine and stop it again, then it logged in. I don't know if it matters, but with uptime checker no location was available (doesn't matter if instance was ON or OFF).
