I am writing to report a verification bug in the "Implement Load Balancing on Compute Engine: Challenge Lab" (GSP313) under Task 2 (Configure the load balancing service). The Issue: When deploying the network load balancing service using the precise parameters listed in the lab instructions via the gcloud CLI, the verification button consistently throws an error ("It doesn't look like you've completed this step yet"), even though the forwarding rule is active and successfully distributing traffic to web1, web2, and web3. The Root Cause: The lab text states: "Set the following values, leaving all others at their defaults: Static external IP: network-lb-ip-1, Target-pool: www-pool, Ports: 80". However, the backend validation script strictly looks for an associated HTTP health check on the target pool, which is not explicitly requested in the Task 2 documentation table. The Workaround: I was only able to pass the check after manually creating a legacy HTTP health check (gcloud compute http-health-checks create) and binding it to www-pool. Please update the validation script or explicitly add the health check requirement to the Task 2 documentation so future students using the CLI don't get stuck. Thank you!
